Hi, Iām Amanda Love.
Personal Statement: As an interdisciplinary artist, my work navigates the tumultuous landscape of book suppression, censorship, and the silencing of marginalized voices. The repeal and destruction ofliterature and history are not mere acts of defiance but symbolize a profound and troubling attack on our collective intellectual freedom and cultural memory. Utilizing practices such as tearing apart books, categorizing their fragments, and reconstructing new forms, I create an evolving visual language that evokes both nostalgia and a stark sense of loss. These acts are repetitive, almost ritualistic, and through this meticulous processing, I aim to highlight the deliberate and systematic methodologies often employed in censoring voices.
Through my compositions, I strive to ignite conversations about the vital importance of preserving not just books, but the diverse voices and histories they embody. My installations are designed to be contemplative spaces where viewers can experience the weight of censorship and acknowledge the invaluable contribution of marginalized stories to our shared humanity.
