Personal Statement: Michelle Boerio is a visual artist and educator. She loves to make art that uses multiple mediums to connect people with the places and creatures of our weird, wonderful world. Her subjects range from the sun-drenched shorelines of southern Italy to the often-overlooked world of wetland animals in Ohio. Primarily, Michelle works in painting, often combining watercolor, acrylic, oil paint, and/or collage. Her expressive, vibrant paintings celebrate playfulness in making marks. She earned a BFA at the Ohio State University with a focus in Painting and Drawing and an MA in Museum Education at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Currently she lives and works in central Ohio, where she divides her time between making art and teaching art with students of all ages.
